Middle Eastern Dance & Music
Formed in 2006, the Dar Tangerina Academy is run by Shema, International Dance artist, Writer, Musician & Henna Artist, providing Tuition, Workshops and Events & Study Trips to Morocco and Egypt.
Now based in the South Sinai region of Egypt, Shema teaches both locally and internationally (US, Canada, Europe, Morocco) in various styles of Middle Eastern, Maghrebi and Arabic dance, from Egyptian dance to folklore, as well as
flexibility and fitness, prop balancing and floor work.
For private lessons and online tuition please see Shema's website www.shemaraqs.com

The basis of Dar Tangerina's tuition
is in Egyptian dance which is now considered the 'home' of modern Bellydance. This is an elegant and beautiful style which dancers can adapt to suit their own abilities and personality. Shema takes the safety of all students very seriously, so will
spend time on correct posture and on building up the muscles to create
strong and safe movements.
I aim
to encourage students to appreciate the subtleties of
Middle Eastern music and
how to express those through the dance with joy and elegance- this is
achieved through sharing my own experience, expertise and love of this
exhilarating dance.
