Founded in 2005, Dar Tangerina Academy is run by Shema, International Bellydancer, Writer, Musician & Henna Artist, providing Tuition, Workshops and Events in the UK & Study Trips and Dance Holidays to Morocco.
Based in the Dar Tangerina Academy in Bristol, the UK's 1st dedicated and permanent Middle Eastern Dance & Music Academy, regular workshops and weekly
classes will include various styles of Middle Eastern, Maghrebi and Arabic dance, from Bellydance to folklore, as well as
flexibility and fitness, prop balancing and floor work.
Shema takes the safety of all students very seriously, so will
spend time on correct posture and on building up the muscles to create
strong and safe movements.
The basis of Dar Tangerina's tuition
is in 
Egyptian Bellydance which is now considered the 'home' of modern Bellydance. This is an elegant and beautiful style which dancers can
adapt to suit their own abilities and personality. Self-confidence is
one of the most important elements of this dance and can take time to develop so performing is not obligatory but there will be opportunities
to perform for any students who wish to progress to public shows. We aim
to encourage students to appreciate the subtleties of Arabic music and
how to express those through the dance with joy and elegance- this is
achieved through Shema sharing her own experience, expertise and love of this
exhilarating dance.

The beauty of Bellydance is that
it is suitable for everyone, regardless of age, shape,
size, fitness level and even injuries can be worked around. It is a great way
to get/keep fit, meet new friends, catch up with old friends, discover your body and most of all, have fun!

insured members of Equity with 1st Aid Certification*
*Private lessons available in
many styles from beginner to advanced levels*
*Workshop levels will
be indicated in details- please ask for more advice about your level*
*Men
are also welcome to classes and workshops unless otherwise specified*

Dar Tangerina Academy will open the UK's first dedicated and permanent studio for Middle Eastern Dance and Music in Bristol, UK!
With classes throughout the week at every level, in bellydance, folklore and percussion and regular workshops and events, this will become a centre for excellence easily accessible for the whole of the UK.
We are very excited about this new venture and hope that you will be able to join us!
